Mission Statement

PassionPlace Productions, Inc. is a not-for-profit multi-media organization dedicated to bringing original live performances through integrated art forms (theatre, spoken word, music, film, dance, fine arts) in a collaborative effort with the community. Providing employment and resources to artists, PassionPlace aims to save children (ages 3 to 103) through freedom and responsibility of art expression. By touring our productions, we share the artist's vision with other communities, while exploring those communities we visit.

VISION: GETTING OTHERS' VISIONS REALIZED AND RECOGNIZED

"Until the philosophy that holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned, everywhere is war...until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes, everywhere is war."
- Haile Salassie, as he spoke to the United Nations in 1963

We aim to bring positive messages by sharing artists' original works and visions and saving children (ages 3 to 103) through the arts. We deal with issues such as human rights, addiction and recovery, race and ethnicity, reform and redemption, peace and progression, all in a multi-sensory performance atmosphere and with a non-separatist fervor. By mixing the ages in our productions, we encourage artists to explore the benefits of people of all ages and what each has to offer. The wisdom of the young can fuel the artistic visions of their elders, and the wisdom of the elders can feed the curiosities of the young.

"We must learn to live together as brothers, or perish together as fools."
- Martin Luther King

We strive to unify the community through the arts by bringing the community together through our performances. This unification will come through artistic content, as well as through the logisitics of having community involvement in the productions and as audience members.

We aim to alert other communities of the visions brought forth by the artists we support by bringing our productions on tour. This touring process also exposes our artists and production staff to other communities, enabling a better understanding of each other and what art means to each of us.

"...being part of a strong community strengthens one's individuality by supporting the expression and enjoyment of one's unique gifts and talents. Individuality, not individualism, is the cornerstone of community. Individuality is synonymous with uniqueness. This means that a person and his or her uninque gifts are irreplaceable. The community loves to see all of its members flourish and function at optimal potential. In fact, a community can flourish and survive only when each member flourishes, living in the full potential of his or her purpose. To honor and support its members is in the self-interest of any community."
- Malidoma Patrice Some from his book The Healing Wisdom of Africa

We provide employment and resources for artists and art technicians who have proven to us that there is a high demand and need for such services.

We are looking towards a five-year plan for a permanent location with an arts complex comprised of structures (performing spaces, recording studio, film studio, dance/rehearsal studio, artist in residence housing, children's daycare/education workshop space, art gallery) all constructed out of salvaged timberframe antique barn frames, log cabins, straw bale construction and using alternative energy resources.

VISION: GETTING OTHERS' VISIONS REALIZED AND RECOGNIZED

  • Let us take a moment out of our busy days to reflect on what such a balanced energy might mean in our lives, in our world.
  • Let us take the time out of time to pledge ourselves in the service of compassion, community and consciousness.
  • Let us pursue the path of partnership and creative participation.
  • Let us direct our boundless nurturing power toward the healing of our planet and of all the beings who live here.
  • Let us dedicate our resources forever more toward that which exalts life and love.
